Equipment Criticality Assessment - The criticality assessment provides a ranking of all equipment in a plant in accordance with each asset’s level of importance to the operation and the probability of it failing to fulfill its function. Factors, and particularly grade definitions within factors, must be tailored to each individual plant’s conditions and a grading structure must be agreed to by management before the classification process begins. Generally, the process is most effective when a third party facilitates the process, resulting in an unbiased assessment that ensures all relevant factors are given their proper weight.
AMIS™ provides professional training, guidance and facilitation of the equipment criticality assessment process in conjunction with recommended next steps for determining the correct maintenance approach for the equipment, based upon the criticality.

Selection of Maintenance Approaches (FMECA/RCM) - AMIS is the leading consultancy in the implementation of FMECA (Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis). The criticality assessment defines which equipment is important to your business, and helps to define what maintenance is required and what spare parts to stock.
The FMECA process is then applied to your most critical pieces of equipment to identify what might fail, how it will fail and what can be done to prevent its failure. The results of this analysis form the basis for an effective Preventive Maintenance program. The FMECA process is one of the most cost effective means to determining the best maintenance approach for both new and existing equipment. Increased performance is guaranteed using and implementing FMECA.

Reliability Management – Reliability Management is designed to compile test and failure data and to provide information that provides a basis to change the test program as necessary to minimize cost and maximize effectiveness. A failure reporting, analysis and corrective action system (FRACAS) is an essential element of the production test program as well as the overall reliability management program. Using the tools of condition monitoring, preventive maintenance, inspection regimes, design out and life cycle costing can increase the reliability of equipment. Development of planned preventive maintenance programs using a risk-based approach ensures your maintenance is cost effective. AMIS regularly assists clients in achieving 20-30% reduction in workload while increasing equipment reliability.

Root Cause Failure Analysis - Root Cause Failure Analysis is a logical, systematic approach to resolving asset reliability, abnormal performance, safety, regulatory compliance, and myriad other problems that occur in all facilities and plants. AMIS provides clients with guidance in root cause analysis program setup, identification and analysis facilitation.

Operator Asset Care (OAC) - Operator Asset Care is a manufacturing improvement tool that focuses on production equipment maintenance and is based upon emphasizing teamwork while redefining tasks and responsibilities. OAC is not about giving maintenance tasks to production and removing maintenance craftsmen, rather it is about harnessing the knowledge and pride of operators and maintenance to improve plant condition and performance. Our services enable clients to achieve extremely valuable performance gains through effective use of Operator Asset Care.

Metrics - All performance goals and the work processes used to achieve them require indicators of their degree of achievement, reported to those accountable. At the same time, those to whom they are accountable also need a way of exercising accountability. This structure of metrics is often inadequately addressed – in operations, maintenance and other business functions. Often people at all levels receive the same information, which works against accountability and increases top-down intervention.
We work with our clients to define appropriate metrics at Dashboard, Senior Management and tactical/operating levels. In addition to providing a process that supports effective management, these metrics define the regular outputs required from your information systems.

Improvement Processes - In addition to measuring results, metrics should be used within the continuous improvement process to drive out the factors that damage performance. Improving performance should not be assigned only as the task of experts using time-consuming problem-solving methodologies. Continuous improvement requires a formal structure that enables every employee to make a real and measurable contribution to improving the performance of the company. It may be more practical and rewarding to devise and implement fifty 1% improvements than one 50% solution. Our services include development of continuous improvement programs that produce significant returns and strengthen the expert betterment processes.

Life Cycle Asset Management - Asset life cycle extends from concept to disposal and management for each phase must establish appropriate policies. It is during the concept/design stages that an analytical process should be used to ensure a high level of inherent reliability. It is also the most cost-effective time to perform the analysis since the cost of correcting failures increases exponentially as the asset life-cycle progresses. The life of an asset may be determined by functional need, or by technology – it is made obsolete by a lower cost and better performing alternative. Let the professionals at AMIS provide proficient guidance in developing your life cycle program.
